India’s T20 World Cup squad: BCCI keeps doors open to change official T20 World Cup squad says pending medical teams report on Shami

India T20 WC Squad: Muhammad Shami Fitness Deepak Hooda Injury: Team India may have a T20 World Cup squad change if needed. Muhammad Shami and Deepak Hooda started their positions. Al-Shami is still recovering from COVID-19 while Hooda has a back injury. Neither the verse IND vs. SA. Since El Shami has not played a T20 match since IPL 2022 there could be a last minute change of pace if BCCI officials are to be believed.

The BCCI can make changes to the squad regardless of injury till October 9. They have six more days until October 15 to make a last-minute change if the ICC allows it.

“It is really worrying that Shami did not play a single match before the U20 World Cup. I hope he gets fit and plays warm-up. It is time to make changes in the team. Mohammed Shami is technically unharmed but is still recovering from Covid and is currently unavailable. Deepak Hooda has suffered a back injury and is awaiting a full medical report. Jasprit Bumrah is recovering from a back injury. Harshal Patel suffered a rib injury. It is not damaged and completely folded. Deepak Chahar hasnt been given many scoring chances after returning from 6 months injury. Umesh Yadav is not 100 percent after a muscle injury.

Mohammed Shami was surprisingly remembered before the T20 World Cup. However as fate would have it he contracted Covid and was unable to join the team for the Australian series. He is yet to recover and will miss the South Africa series. India has not participated in any T20 matches since last years T20 World Cup tour by England.

It is difficult to say when he will recover. He must pass a cardiovascular test. Currently awaiting medical approval. If he passes this test he can join the team the official said.

However the medical team has not given any time for Shamis return which has complicated the situation for the recruiters. Shami is currently scheduled to board his flight to Australia by October 5. Shami was kept in a warehouse. India will travel to Australia with all the reserve players on October 6.

Deepak Hooda is an interesting case. The first report suggested that this was a back cramp but this is not clear. This is a back injury. Unlike Shami Hooda is 15th in the starting and only 2nd spinner in the squad. He is expected to support Axar Patel in Australia.

Hooda injured his back. He searches in Bangalore and reports to NCA. Its not hard as far as I know. But it will be known only after the report of the medical team. Shreyas is already a backup and has joined the team in Thiruvananthapuram. The official said he can come to the World Cup if needed.
