Pakistan WC T20 Team: Pakistan legend Younis Khan has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not to embarrass them by changing shifts. Many pundits believe that a change to the ICC T20 World Cup squad is imminent as mid-table Pakistan continues to underperform. Questions were raised over Khushdil Shahs selection of Asif Ali in the starting XI after the two hitters were silent during the seven T20I draw against England.

The lack of a Khushdil Shah Asif Ali chapter is the main reason for the failure of Pakistans middle order. Many pundits including former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez criticized star player Shoaib Malik for being ignored by national voters at the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. In the absence of the experienced Malik the entire burden of the middle order fell on Shah Alis shoulders.

In particular Pakistan’s chief selector Mohammad Wasim said last week that he has the option of changing the squad if needed. Wasim also added Wednesday that PCB has no plans to change the T20 World Cup lineup but the possibility of a shakeup is always present as Babar Azam and his partners continue to face familiar issues.

However former Pakistan coach and player Younis Khan has come to support the team. He said there was no need to make the PCB difficult by changing teams. Younis added that the players who are selected are the best players and the team management should take advantage of these players.

There are always voices and cries that the team should change. We tried this last time. Now I think we should not be ashamed of suddenly changing teams. Our coaches should use referees and PCB players. You will not find this flute anywhere else and it is the best group when talking to the media on Jio TV in Karachi.

Pakistans 15-man squad for the World Cup was announced last week. Top hitter Shaun Masood was initially included in the short-running lineup along with fast pitchers Mohammad Wasim Jr and Shaheen Shah Afridi. The three travel bookings are Faqar Zaman Mohammad Haris and Shahnawaz Dahani.

Wasim Jr made a full recovery from a sideline during the ACC T20 Asia Cup. But Shaheen is undergoing treatment in London for a knee problem and could join the team in Brisbane on October 15 before returning to bowling early next month.
