T20 World Cup Pakistan National Team: Pakistan captain Lega hints at changing T20 World Cup team as Babar Azam & Co’s middle-order woes continue

Pakistan T20 World Cup Squad: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Mohammad Wasim has hinted at changing the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. As Babar Azam and co continue to struggle in the middle order Pakistans chief selector said there is an option to make some changes if necessary. Wasim also said on Wednesday that BPA has no plans to change the squad for the T20 World Cup but there is always room for a reshuffle. Pakistan is currently playing against England at home. The men in green lost their first T20I in seven matches and will look to bounce back against the visitors on Thursday.

In an interview with Geo News Wasim admitted that Pakistan is facing a mid laner problem. And in preparation for the big tour in October they are using it in different formations in the England series.

According to Mohamed Wasim the team are underperforming against England in the first T20 and final of the 2022 Asian Cup.

The Pakistani team is faced with a war problem and efforts to address it are ongoing. The teams executives made a number of additions from the previous series to empower the bench. WaShim said that with the World Cup just around the corner he wasn’t too worried about a second straight loss.

The head coach said there are no current plans to change the World Cup roster but it is definitely an option.

I dont know what changes can be made. I hope the players selected for the tournament perform well [in the current series]. He added that while Fakhar Zaman is in the squad and the PCB hopes he recovers quickly from his illness injuries may also bring changes to the squad. Several names will be considered if he misses the World Championship.

Saim Ayub and Sharjeel Khan were included in the PCBs 18-man squad but were not included in the 15. Vasim said that there are many names in discussion.

Pakistan T20 WC Squad

Pakistans 15-member World Cup squad was announced last week. Top-order batsman Shaan Masood has been included in the squad for the first time in the shorter format along with fast bowlers Mohammad Wasim Jr and Shaheen Shah Afridi. While the three traveling reserves are Fakhar Zaman Mohammad Haris and Shahnawaz Dahani.

Wasim Junior has been included in the squad after fully recovering from the injury sustained during the ACC T-20 Asia Cup. But Shaheen who is undergoing treatment for knee pain in London could resume bowling early next month and join the team in Brisbane on October 15. Changes to the team can be made on October 15 without the need for a special technical program. Committee approval.
